Shot on my 1958 Rolleiflex TLR while traveling back to my mother's home island of Miayko-Jima. Part of the Okinawa chain of islands nestled in the warmth of the Philippine Sea, Miyako-jima sits roughly 1800km to the southeast of Tokyo. It's been affectionately coined the "Hawaii of Japan" due to it's beautiful white sand beaches, clear ocean, and abundant and vibrant coral reefs. Most of the individuals featured in these photographs are my family.
